- December 8: Dissertation Defense by Geisce Ly on "Administrators' Perceptions of Successful Political Behaviors During Planned Organizational Change," 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Tribute (Room 1322).

- December 9: 2008-09 Teacher Education Seminar Series Part I: Conceptualizing Ethical Imperatives of Teachers' Work. Harry Brighouse, University of Wisconsin. Topic: Equity, Equality, and Social Justice (What is the difference between equity and equality? What is the relationship of each of these ideas to social justice? What are the implications for teachers?), 4:00 pm, Tribute Room (Room 1322).

- December 9: OMSA Presents: University of Michigan - Algebra Project - Washtenaw Intermediate School District collaboration, 12:00 noon - 1:00 pm, Whitney Auditorium (Room 1309). Guest Speakers: Laura Roop, Director of Outreach at the School of Education; Henry Meares, Assistant Dean for External Relations at the School of Education; Mark Thames, Research Associate at the School of Education; Bryan Joyce, Masters in Social Work and Student Member of the Young People's Project; and Nicole Garcia, Mathematics Coordinator, Washtenaw Intermediate School District. - December 9: Dissertation Defense by Charles Vanover on "The Expertise in Urban Teaching Project," 8:00 am, Tribute (Room 1322).

- December 9: Poster Session for SoE faculty and graduate students, 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm, classroom next to the Greenhouse suite on the 4th floor. Hosted by Magdalene Lampert and the students in ED776. The session will exhibit the findings of grad student research projects completed this term in the above referenced course. These projects investigate how teacher educators in our own school use representations of teaching practice to enable novices to study teaching. The sessions investigated range across pre-school, elementary, and secondary teacher education, and across literacy, mathematics, science and social studies. Refreshments will be provided.

- December 10: Teacher Education Initiative open meeting, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm, Whitney Auditorium (Room 1309). Members of the TEI Curriculum group will present and solicit feedback from others o n the draft set of "high-leverage" teaching practices that they have been developing during the past year. These high-leverage practices will eventually become the foundation of our redesigned teacher education program. During the meeting members of the TEI Steering Group will also launch the 2009 Request for Proposals and introduce a new way for faculty members and graduate students doing innovative work in teacher education to obtain resources and contribute to the work of the Initiative. Copies of the draft set of high-leverage practices will be available for review on the TEI's website and in hard copy outside Room 4119 until Friday, December 5th.
